Police confirm Ogbuagu’s rescue, intensify search for ​AVM Smith, RCCG pastor

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of Kingsley Ogbuagu.

The youth was kidnapped in Lagos on Sunday at the Roman Catholic Church of Visitation in FESTAC Town.

“The victim (Ogbuagu) kidnapped on Sunday 26th September, 2021 has been rescued and reunited with his family”, Adekunle Ajisebutu, police spokesman said in a statement.

On rising abductions in Lagos, the command assured it is working to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Ajisebutu said efforts are being intensified in the search for AVM Sikiru Smith (Rtd) who was abducted on Tuesday in Ajah, and a RCCG Pastor taken at Dopemu-Agege.

He noted that operatives are “being tactical so as not to jeopardize the lives of the AVM and the pastor”.

The Pubic Relations Officer assured that the perpetrators of the acts would be apprehended.

Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu said despite the “isolated incidents”, Lagos remains one of the safest states in Nigeria.

Odumosu has ordered field commanders, tactical unit commanders, uniformed and plain-clothed officers to intensify policing, vehicular patrol and intelligence-driven raids of all flashpoints and blackspots.
